On Time
The average man asks, "Can you tell me what time it is?"
The scientist asks, "What can time tell us?"
The philosopher asks, "Tell me, what is time?"
The wise man replies, "Only time will tell."
The scientist asks, "What can time tell us?"
The philosopher asks, "Tell me, what is time?"
The wise man replies, "Only time will tell."

I like the quote. Have you ever done a study on time in the Scriptures? It is a fascinating study to research the word time in the New Testament. I’ve done some writing on it, but it is on my computer at home. Two words commonly used for time in the New Testament are karios and chronos. Karios refers to the opportune time, a window of opportunity, a time that is ripe for harvest, the fullness of time. It implies that the moment is pregnant for God to move! Chronos on the other hand refers to the time that is linear: second by second; minute by minute; hour by hour; day by day; month by month; year by year, etc. I think you get the point. Obviously we want the karios time when something is about to happen; yet, we cannot underestimate the value of the chronos time because that is precisely the process that God uses to prepare us for His karios timing. If we’re unfaithful in the chronos time of preparing our hearts for the Lord himself, then we’re certainly not going to be ready to receive what He has for us in the opportune times!
Bless you!
